Although Tanzania is still a very poor country, the economic reform has proved successful, and is aiding in the agricultural reform. Coffee is Tanzania’s number one crop, and because equipment is available through a cooperative, more small holders are able to grow Arabica coffee. The best can be found near Mt Kilimanjaro, carefully tended and shaded by banana trees. The washed coffee is excellent, less intense than Kenya, and overall milder and lighter.
