The earliest accounts of coffee all refer to its being a native of this region. Despite being a poor country, suffering from the aftermath of a civil war and racked by droughts, Ethiopia is a significant producer of coffee in volume as well as quality. Most of these are the traditional unwashed varieties, giving an extremely characteristic flavors and aroma, unique and wonderfully delicate.
