The Brazilian coffee crop claims one-third of the world’s production. Unlike other regions which export their beans consuming little at home, Brazilians in one year drink about 12 million bags, in the form of the much loved cafezinho, a tiny cup of good quality black coffee drunk many times throughout the day. Both Arabica and Robusta are grown here, but the Arabica the mainstay, mostly dry processed. Being in the tropical zone, there is 8 million acres of land dedicated to coffee; however there are only a few estates that intensely pursue high quality, and carefully tend the processing to achieve truly wonderful coffee- smooth, well balanced and mellow.
